Nancy Farrell

Short Artist Statement:
My painting is a free-wheeling, very subjective distillation of inner thoughts and feelings. I work in acrylic and mixed media. I have always been intrigued with the endless potential of non-objective painting. This type of painting challenges me with endless ways to convey thoughts, emotions and mood.

I am drawn to colour and to gestural mark-marking. Paint is layered, added to, subtracted from and drawn into. Marks can flux in and out of the surface. The whole process continues until elements interact and some sort of sense of balance occurs.

I have an honours Fine Art degree from the University of Guelph and have continued my studies with Peter Kolisnyk and John Leonard in Canada and Steve Aimone in the US. My work can be viewed at
